Venture Capital in Africa in 2026: Equity Is Back, Debt Is Down, and Nigeria Is Swinging
African startups raised $2.16 billion in the first nine months of 2026, roughly flat on last year. Underneath, equity rose 23% and debt fell by a third. Nigeria went from its weakest share on record in 2025 to the top of the equity table, then had a near-empty September.
